We the undersigned Lords, Ladies,
Knights, squires and worthy men at arms, finding ourselves
of like mind and equal desire, have resolved to band
together to form a worthy coterie which shall henceforth be
known as
The Fellowship of the Abbey (The Fellowship).
It shall be the purpose of The Fellowship to foster chivalry, courtesy and generosity among its members through act and deed by encouraging participation in all arts chivalric and genteel; tempered with the knowledge that true glory comes not with mere achievement or victory, but in service and striving to do one’s best with steadfast refusal to sacrifice honor for base gain or the sake of vanity.
Likewise it shall be the purpose of The Fellowship to study that period of time which lies between the decline of Rome and the advent of the Age of Exploration, hoping therein to find inspiration, enlightenment and a better understanding of those who forged the concepts of chivalry and grace from the hammer and the flame.
It shall be the aspiration of The Fellowship to strive in all matters toward a true representation of the afore mentioned time, exercise largess through franchise and demonstrate unsolicited acts of generosity to those in need.
We acknowledge that these noble ideals represent a formidable challenge for any man, yet we trust that the continuing aid and encouragement of our comrades will provide for each of us the inspiration to achieve these goals.
This being said may GOD bless our venture.
